New bits finally available

Apr 18, 2007

At last! CodePlex is back online and BlogEngine is back on track. We haven’t been able to gather all the changes into one project because it’s only 10 minutes since we could reconnect to CodePlex. However, the build currently available is packed with new features and bug fixes. We will do all we can to make a more formal release with all of the new features as fast as possible.

There are also two new and very nice themes available in the release. You can check them out over at Al Nyveldt’s blog. If you have created a theme you would like to share with other BlogEngine.NET users, just let me know and I’ll make sure to link to it or add it as a build-in theme for future releases if you want.

Awesomeness!  Really great stuff!

I'm really looking forward to the Metaweblog API.  Is that in one of the checked in releases?

No, it is not. It will take a day or two to add.

My theme is available now. But it is not been tested yet, If you decide to try out this theme and run across any problems, please let me know by posting them on the BlogEngine.NET site or you could fix it yourself.

Harsha, it is something dasblog inserts into all posts. The dasBlog import tool does not filter it out - it's a bug. Just delete it.

Mads, a couple things;
first, your URL validation method needs updating. Says my URL, http://vernsblog.thegillfamily.us:8180/, is invalid.

Second, dasBlog has (had?) the ability to synchro a blogroll with RSS Bandit. The blogroll displayed on the site matched perfectly with the roll in rssb and changes in rssb would reflect after synch.

Is that still part of this engine?

I hope someone creates a sql provider for the engine. I always hated the xml files laying around.

I'll fix the url validation. Thanks. About the blogroll synchronization: I didn't know anybody used it, but I will definetly put in on the list of features to add. Someone is building a SQL Server provider at the moment. I don't know if it will make it for the first release or not, but I understand that it is on its way.

You shouldn't need to add that, unless you specifically removed it.

Vern, BlogEngine.NET is build from scratch. Nothing from dasBlog has been reused, so I have to add it.

Oh, never mind then...
